Bread
Some people take bread for granted. They make their toast in the morning and prepare their
sandwiches for lunch using the same sliced, white loaf that can be bought at any supermarket. But is this bread?
Soft, tasteless white stuff that sticks to the top of your mouth. Maybe it's ok to use to make bacon
sandwiches but that's about it. I like different sorts of bread that complement different types of
food. I like to know what's been used to make the loaf that I eat, and I don't want it packed with
preservatives to give the impression of freshness. That's what this site is all about - buying and making
bread that you'll enjoy.
Baking bread
It can be difficult to find a good local baker. If you do know a good bakery we'd love to include
the details on our Good bakers page. Please send us details at info@bakegreatbread.co.uk.
If you aren't lucky enough to have a good baker near you then the chances are that you'll want to
bake your own. You don't have to use a machine, you can do it all by hand, but we've included a page giving our
opinion on what we think of some of the Best Bread Makers. We've also included a few Bread recipes and some ideas about Buying ingredients. If you're just starting out you might find Bread making for beginners helpful.
Moving away from actually baking we've put together a few pages about the History of bread and some Interesting facts about bread. We'd also really appreciate it if
you'd send us any interesting Bread pictures that you might have.
